This is the first reading of the Mobile Communication Devices Board Policy 5131.8.
Policy 5131.8 is a new policy that reflects the AB 3216 which requires the Governing Board to, by July 1, 2026, develop, adopt, and update every five years a policy to limit or prohibit student use of smartphones while at a school site or under the supervision and control of district employee(s). The policy provides guidance on the district’s approach to regulating the use of smartphones and other mobile communication devices. |
